About The Position

As a Respiratory Therapist Intern, you will learn new things and see how your skills can be life saving to others. This is a .2 FTE position, working 16 hours per two-week pay period, with 8-hour day/evening shifts and an every other weekend rotation.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
Associate's or Vocational Degree in progress-Currently enrolled in a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) program with successful completion of academics and clinicals for non-acute respiratory care patients
BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED
Bachelor's Degree in progress-Currently enrolled in a CoARC accredited Respiratory Care program with successful completion of academics and clinicals for non-acute respiratory care patients
Experience in health care
ACLS/BLS Tier 3 - Multisource preferred

Responsibilities

Performs all therapeutic functions of the Respiratory Therapist as stated in personnel and policy manuals.
Must complete competencies and perform modalities in clinical settings prior to performing therapeutic functions.
Exchanges information in a way that is accurate, meaningful and current.
Communicates with the Respiratory Therapist to verify plans of care.
Develops and Maintains an environment that is safe for patients, visitors and employees.
Protects patients, self and others from injury and accidents by maintaining a safe environment and using equipment properly.
Follows safety/security procedures for emergency and non-emergency situations to protect patient, self and environment.
Protects patient, self and others from injury during transfers, lifts, and transports by using proper equipment and body mechanics.
Uses communication techniques that reflect attention to the specific needs of the patient/family.
Adapts communication techniques to meet the specific needs of the patients/customers served.
Develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care based upon individual patient and family needs.
Documents all patient assessments, treatments and procedures.
Documents patient information to ensure accurate billing.
Assesses effectiveness of intervention and revises treatment plan appropriately.
Other duties as assigned.
