About The Position

Performs therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory care procedures and provides assessment, treatment, care and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies or abnormalities. Exercises sound judgment, and developed clinical skills to provide input to and implement the patient's plan of care based on the diagnosis and physician orders in a timely manner. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and/or orient other staff to the department.

Requirements

Graduate of a two-year respiratory care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) within 90 days
Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification
2 years of recent relevant experience
Knowledge of respiratory therapy principles, procedures, views, and equipment
Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions
Capable of performing routine or emergency respiratory care
Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
Written and verbal communications skills
Well-developed time management and organizational skills
Ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods
General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR), and EPIC
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions
Ability to identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options
Ability to ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI)
Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers
Ability to function effectively and perform this position in an emergency situation
