Respiratory Therapist II
About The Position
The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care to help patients breathe better and live healthier. The Baptist Health Respiratory Care department provides personalized care and advanced treatments for conditions such as asthma and COPD. Services include pulmonary function testing, ventilator management, pulmonary rehabilitation, asthma and COPD education and management, and 24/7 emergency respiratory care. This is a full-time role listed as 36 hours on the third shift. The therapist administers respiratory medications and therapies, provides ventilation support and CPR, performs bedside pulmonary function screening and arterial blood gas testing, and responds to emergency situations. Intubation is performed if applicable.
Requirements
- Registered Respiratory Therapist credential through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Associate degree.
- Kentucky Respiratory Care Practitioner license through the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care, in accordance with KRS Chapter 314A.
- Maintain active BLS certification; it must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not already active.
- Obtain PALS and NRP within six months.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications via aerosol therapy.
- Provide oxygen therapy, percussion and postural drainage, non-invasive ventilation, and mechanical ventilation.
- Perform CPR.
- Perform bedside pulmonary function screening and arterial blood gas testing.
- Perform in emergency situations and provide intubation, if applicable.
