About The Position

Under the supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Medical Director and Department Manager, the Respiratory Therapist I, II, and III (collectively referred to as RCP moving forward) is responsible for providing Respiratory Care services in accordance with specific physician orders, as well as department policies and procedures. Pursuant to provider orders, the RCP administers respiratory care and life support, performs diagnostic testing, and monitors and assesses patients as a member of the healthcare team to help the patient return to a steady, stable cardiopulmonary state. When working in the outpatient pulmonary environment, the RCP primarily evaluates the patient’s lung function by performing diagnostic testing, monitoring and assessing clinic patients, delivering various modalities of respiratory care, or providing health or disease education.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Washington State Department of Health (WSDOH) recognized, accredited Respiratory Care Program.
  • One year recent experience in a hospital or clinic required OR If new graduate, academic clinical rotations must have been completed in the last six (6) months or a length of time deemed appropriate by the department manager.
  • RT I Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), credentialed through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and licensed or permitted to practice respiratory care by the Washington State Department of Health (WSDOH).
  • RT II, III Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), credentialed through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and licensed or permitted to practice respiratory care by the Washington State Department of Health (WSDOH).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS required within 90 days of hire if working outside Pulmonary Function Lab.
  • NRP required within 180 days of hire if working o

Nice To Haves

  • An RT III will also possess one of the following credentials: - Certified/Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT/RPFT) – NBRC - Certified Asthma Educator (AE-C) – Nat’l Asthma Ed. Certification Board (NAECB) - NPS (Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty) – NBRC - ACCS (Adult Critical Care Specialty) – NBRC
