About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist Assistant works in Respiratory Services at St. Lawrence Hospital – Massena Hospital Main. Duties include scheduling, patient registration, performance improvement, scanning and filing, billing, and ordering and stocking supplies. Staff must be flexible and may be required to work variable hours or locations. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week, with 8-hour shifts from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and no weekend or on-call work.

Requirements

• Six months of experience in the medical field.

Nice To Haves

• Computer courses.
• Electronic Medical Record and Medical Terminology experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Receive orders and schedule appropriate tests with patients.
• Assemble patient information packages and send information to patients.
• Register patients in the electronic medical record system and verify insurance information using the Emdeon system or telephone verification for the Sleep Lab.
• Establish appropriate information for charts and assemble charts.
• Maintain the filing system and scan and file completed charts appropriately.
• Retrieve medical records as needed.
• Ensure reports contain correct information and maintain proper communication with the Medical Director and Respiratory Services director.
• Order stock and maintain adequate departmental supplies.
• Assist the Respiratory director in ensuring continuity of care for patients.
