About The Position

Inova Fairfax Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapist 1 to provide respiratory care as part of its team. This is a full-time position at 36 hours per week, working 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, including weekends. Sign-on and relocation bonuses are available. The therapist administers respiratory interventions, establishes and manages mechanical ventilation, performs and reviews ventilator weaning, develops or refines ventilator care plans, and formulates patient care plans using diagnostic data, responses to therapy, and physiologic profiles. The role includes coordinating with the patient care team and ensuring plans align with departmental standards of care.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited CoARC (The Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) respiratory program.
CRT upon start.
BLS from AHA upon start.
Virginia RT license upon start.

Responsibilities

Administer advanced respiratory therapeutic interventions, such as heliox, nitric oxide, CNB, and Chest Wall Oscillation, with moderate proficiency and occasional supervision.
Establish and manage basic mechanical ventilation using commonly used ventilators with high proficiency and minimal to no supervision.
Use complex mechanical ventilation, including HFO, NPPV, PRVC, and transport ventilation, with moderate proficiency and occasional supervision.
Perform ordered weaning mechanics with high proficiency in more than 90 percent of ventilator patients cared for.
Review the need for continued ventilator support, including spontaneous breathing trials and weaning, on a daily basis for more than 90 percent of patients cared for.
Develop or refine ventilator care plans and communicate them to the patient care team.
Formulate patient care plans based on diagnostic data, response to therapy, and physiologic profiles.
Ensure therapeutic plans are sound and consistent with departmental standards of care.
