Respiratory Student
About The Position
As a Respiratory Student at Henry Ford Health, you will provide essential care to patients with respiratory insufficiencies while working within your scope of practice. You will support patients and healthcare teams by administering treatments, monitoring patient responses, and educating patients about their conditions and care plans. The role contributes to patient outcomes and recovery. The position is contingent. Shifts may be preassigned when schedule gaps arise, on days or nights. The student may pick up unfilled shifts in four-hour blocks, cover shifts for respiratory therapists taking time off, or sign up for additional hours. The listed pay is $22.30 per hour.
Requirements
- Obtain BLS Provider certification within one month (30 days) of the hire date or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
- High school diploma equivalency or enrollment in an accredited program specific to the discipline.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments based on patient outcomes, under appropriate supervision.
- Deliver ordered therapy and assess the patient's response.
- Monitor, record, and communicate the patient's condition.
- Educate patients about diseases, medications, and treatment.
