About The Position

This position operates under the general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Shift Lead (RTSL) and reports to the Respiratory Therapy manager. Their primary responsibilities include conducting respiratory assessments, managing therapies, and recommending treatment strategies based on patient assessments. They must understand the indications and contraindications of various therapies. The RST II is responsible for documenting patient assessments, therapies, and charges by the end of their shift, with a supervising Respiratory Therapist co-signing their documentation. They also educate patients and families, focus on their professional development, and maintain a professional demeanor.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Respiratory Care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) or a recognized successor organization.
  • Must hold a current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), specifically designated for Healthcare Providers.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (COARC).
