About The Position

Oversees the quality, education, and performance improvement initiatives within the respiratory department to ensure optimal patient outcomes and adherence to evidence-based standards of care. Coordinates staff training, clinical quality programs, and multidisciplinary collaboration while developing and maintaining policies and procedures to support high-quality respiratory services.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of respiratory therapy experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner from the Mississippi Department of Health.
  • Possesses knowledge of therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory procedures, cardiopulmonary assessments, and patient evaluation.
  • Demonstrates understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and physics as applied to respiratory care.
  • Skilled in respiratory health promotion, disease prevention, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, staff, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Capable of alleviating patient anxiety, maintaining equipment and supplies, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, monitor, and continuously improve respiratory services to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate orientation, educational programs, and staff development activities for respiratory care staff.
  • Lead ongoing clinical quality improvement initiatives within the respiratory department.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and committees to ensure evidence-based clinical quality goals and outcomes are developed and implemented according to established standards of care; serve as a liaison between departments as needed.
  • Provide feedback to medical staff and administration regarding outcomes from clinical improvement initiatives and performance measures of respiratory clinical pathways.
  • Collaborate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures related to respiratory care and quality standards.
