About The Position

This position is responsible for inventory and ordering of medical gases, medications and supplies; checking and changing medical gas cylinders; cleaning and minor repair of equipment; processing requisitions; stocking of supply areas; and miscellaneous related duties.

Requirements

  • High School or GED (Required)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
  • Must know use of medical gases and be able to move cylinders.
  • Computer knowledge, inventory and ordering of supplies, able to assemble respiratory equipment, excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • six months to one year related Experience .

Responsibilities

  • Cleans contaminated respiratory equipment; washes, dries, assembles and packages for sterilization process.
  • Delivers, picks up and puts away processed equipment.
  • Monitors sterilization and disinfection process of respiratory equipment.
  • Replaces broken or missing parts on equipment.
  • Stocks daily respiratory care storage areas.
  • Checks and changes oxygen cylinders/regulators daily in department.
  • Checks daily can changes when necessary nitrous oxide, nitrogen and oxygen bank systems; these cylinders are 5 feet tall and require dexterity in moving.
  • Banks require between 6- 8 tanks and are charged weekly.
  • Assists in medical gas shutdowns; responsible for signing and processing bill for liquid oxygen deliveries and cylinder gases.
  • Assists with cylinder inventory count.
  • Performs bi-weekly inventory and ordering of all medical gases, supplies, water and medications for Respiratory Care.
  • Processes purchase requisitions for equipment needed in all three cost centers of Pulmonary Services.
  • Travel requisitions are entered into the computer system.
  • All orders are recorded with prices according to cost center and account number, checked off, received and paperwork filed.
  • Purchasing, stockroom and vendors are contacted when orders are not received or are incorrect.
  • Monitors ventilator usage for overhaul schedule; repairs and troubleshoots equipment; prepares and sends out equipment for repair; maintains repair records; monitors rental equipment; retrieves equipment from utility rooms as needed; checks emergency suctions equipment daily, cleans equipment dryer and changes filers.
  • Obtains linens.
