About The Position

The clinical manager should be registered by the National Board for Respiratory Therapy and licensed by the Texas State Board of Health as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. The clinical supervisor will act under the general direction of the Medical Director with direct responsibility to the Director of Cardiopulmonary. Participation on various hospital committees to represent Cardiopulmonary and gather information that affects the Hospital District and the Department is essential.  

Requirements

  • Should have an Associate or Bachelor degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Must have at least three years general and Intensive Care Respiratory Care experience. One month on the job training to orient to policies and procedures in this hospital.Two or more years of healthcare experience, and two or more years of general work experience in the profession for which the degree was earned.
  • ACLS and PALS within 6 months of hire. Current NRP and CPR Certification. National Board of Respiratory Care. Should hold a Registered Respiratory Therapist certificate. Texas State Board of Health as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Critical thinking skills, analytical abilities, decisive judgment and the ability to work withminimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Build, Test, and Prepare reports from Athena as required.
  • Evaluate monthly financial performance within Athena.
  • Assist with data gathering for RHC cost reports.
  • Able to perform with competency all aspects of Respiratory Care to fill in as needed when short staffed.
  • Assuring the supervision of Cardiopulmonary personnel including performance evaluations of staff.
  • Perform month-end and year-end close processes in Athena.
  • Create RVU and productivity reports for HRMP Directors.
  • Supervision of maintenance and care of Cardiopulmonary related equipment. Recommend to Director of Cardiopulmonary preventative maintenance programs replacement or the purchase of new equipment.
  • Assist with blood gas laboratory CAP compliant as well as other regulatory bodies such as CMS.
  • Monitor and respond to patient portal questions.
  • Answer patient calls escalated by billing team and clinic managers.
  • Assist with QI within the department to improve processes, patient care, promote collaboration with colleagues, physicians and patients.
  • Provide a Monthly schedule that will assure coverage of personnel.
  • Work with credentialing team to ensure correct information is billing out on claims.
  • Direct oversight of all Cardiopulmonary staff.
  • Recommend staffing levels and establish criteria for increasing and decreasing staffing on a daily basis.
  • Assures appropriate and adequate staffing levels to meet patient care; including working to cover when necessary.
  • Monitor denials work queues or pending claims.
  • Post payments and work claims denials.
  • Assists in day to day management and operations of the Cardiopulmonary department, including off-site ED's.
  • Provides prompt direction and leadership to resolve and correct performance and patient issues/concerns.
  • Work outstanding worklists in Athena (credit balances, prepayments, EOBs, etc).
  • Build and maintain Fee Schedules and Allowable Schedules in Athena.
  • Able to work in all areas of the hospital, including off site ED's.
  • Consistently demonstrates an ability to assess situations, consider alternatives, and choose appropriate course of action.
  • Monitor and work payment mismatch report to identify over/underpayments.
  • Helps ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, CAP, HIPAA and all other regulatory agencies and laws governing hospital and Cardiopulmonary services.
  • Helps develop, execute and promote quality programs.
  • Work with other leaders on revenue cycle initiatives.
  • Assist with any other duties as required.
  • Evaluates and ensures performance improvement measures.
  • Consistently performs duties and responsibilities accurately with minimal direct supervision.
  • Inspires confidence from co-workers and other departments by performing and communicating in a highly professional manner at all times.
  • Shows good judgment in performance of job duties. Follows Cardiopulmonary and hospital policy and procedures when dealing with patients.
  • Consistently uses tact and maintains a professional attitude when dealing with employees and patients.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to maintain a positive and effective working relationship with other hospital
  • Helps maintain supplies and equipment for the department.
  • Takes an active role in in-service education of technicians, as well as the orientation of nursing personnelto Respiratory Therapy.
  • Develops and implements employee training/competency programs.
  • Assists in performing employee performance assessments and develops action plans for improvementand/or growth on an annual (or as needed) basis.
  • Assists in the recruiting and selection of new employees.
  • Assures all new employees complete an orientation packet and turn it in prior to being out of orientation.
  • Assures regular department meetings or huddles are performed for optimal communication.
  • Does not have excessive call-ins.
  • Attends to personal matters outside of work time to avoid productivity problems or conflicts.
  • Does not excessively get on the internet or personal phone calls.
