About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist II applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate respiratory care for any age-related needs of the patients served on assigned unit or department.

Requirements

  • Completion of an AMA approved 2-year school of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers or current PALS certification (PALS certification required within six (6) months of hire).
  • Current Washington State Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
  • Completion of ECMO specialist training and selection to be on the team of ECMO specialist.
  • Completion of training requirements including the Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) credential from the NBRC to be unit core RT, mentor RT, or ED RT; Or must be obtained within the 150 day probationary period.
  • Completion and maintenance of all ED training materials including IV placement and oral medication administration.
  • Completion of training in the Pulmonary Function or Exercise Stress Labs.
  • CPFT required within six (6) months of hire or transfer for employees working in the Pulmonary Diagnostic’s Lab.

Nice To Haves

  • RPFT preferred for employees working in the Pulmonary Diagnostic’s Lab.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care or other health related field.
  • two (2) years NICU/PICU experience (for ECMO Specialist).
  • successful completion of SCH ICU Fellowship program or equivalent critical care experience and at least one year of Seattle Children’s Hospital ICU experience (for Unit Core RT or Mentor RT).
  • one (1) year NICU/PICU or equivalent critical care experience (for Emergency Department RT).
