This position is Full time 40 hours a week working 8AM-5PM Monday-Friday. Rotating on-call for 6 or 7 days every other month. On Call may also land on a holiday, otherwise no regular scheduled weekends or holidays required. The role requires the delivery of assessment, therapeutic intervention, and education for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders or associated complications. This involves assessing individuals to prevent, detect, monitor, and manage disease and complications, and providing therapeutic interventions to directly impact cardiopulmonary health and overall health status according to established goals and interdisciplinary care plans. Education is provided to promote preventative care, self-management, enhanced cardiopulmonary health, and quality of life. The specialist will perform regular assessments of patients and the equipment they use, offer treatment suggestions based on patient analysis, and work with patients in their home, hospital, and clinic environments. Collaboration with a team of physicians, nurses, or other healthcare professionals is expected for patient care management, including assisting with home respiratory therapy. On-call shifts may be required on a rotating basis. A thorough knowledge of all procedures, indications, contraindications, and hazards involved in respiratory care, as well as knowledge of equipment utilized in the department, is necessary. The role also requires the ability to utilize computers for patient documentation and data gathering for quality care, and completion of required orientations, competency validations, and in-services.
