This is a full time night shift adult/pediatric float position.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy from a program accredited by the Committee On Accreditation for Respiratory Care (COARC) or accredited by the American Medical Association’s Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA).
  • Current state Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCPRT) license required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association required within one year of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within one year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • One-year experience preferred.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of duties including respiratory therapy, ventilator management, EKGs, and serving on the code team.
  • Perform exercise stress testing and pulmonary function testing.
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with physician orders, using sound clinical judgment and technical expertise in patient care.
  • Achieve and maintain advanced level clinical skills necessary to care for critical patients.
  • Perform cardiopulmonary procedures using the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the age of patients (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) served.
  • Attain department goals utilizing a clearly established daily plan of treatments, procedures, clean up and maintenance with cooperation through all shifts regardless of assignments or job title.
  • Complete, accurate and timely information is gathered and documented in the department and patient records.
  • Ensure proper billing through accurate charges and record keeping.
  • Engage in open and positive verbal and non-verbal age-appropriate communications (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric) with peers, supervisors, physicians, patients and all outside customers, under stressful and non-stressful circumstances.
  • Maintain patient and co-workers’ confidentiality.
  • Maintain clinic environment, equipment, and personal workspace in a neat and safe manner.
  • Meet annual safety and other hospital wide educational requirements in a timely fashion and clearly documented.
  • Advance professional education through regular participation in internal/external education opportunities in both broad and discipline-specific topics.
  • Complete annual competencies and keep accurate files in personal portfolio.
  • Possess a basic knowledge of related special procedures.
