About The Position

Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, a 198-bed non-profit facility, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join their established team. The role involves providing highly specialized cardiopulmonary care to patients with breathing issues, including treatments from breathing techniques and nebulizer treatments to ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support. The position requires strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to manage diverse patient needs, develop care plans, and intervene effectively in routine and emergent situations. Success in this role depends on a strong sense of urgency, calmness under pressure, and the ability to anticipate outcomes, all while demonstrating dedication to patient well-being and exceptional problem-solving.

Requirements

• Graduate of an AMA Respiratory Therapy Program
• Respiratory Care Practitioner: AZ
• Registered Respiratory Therapist
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of therapy based on patient’s age, cognitive and physical abilities, and/or developmental needs
• Make recommendations for changes in specific modes of therapy
• Educates patients and arranges home respiratory care services and patient therapy follow-up assessments using language and materials appropriate for age, cognitive and physical abilities, and/or developmental needs
• Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in department meetings, in-service programs and continuing education programs
• Maintains established department policies, procedures and objectives, concerning quality assurance, safety, environmental conditions and infection control
