About The Position

Provides respiratory care to patients in acute, chronic, and emergency situations. Documents care accurately and completely according to established charting procedures, including patient progress and changes in condition. Selects, assembles, checks, and cleans respiratory care equipment and performs minor repairs. Practices appropriate precautions when cleaning and sterilizing work surfaces, equipment, and instruments. Works with a manager on professional development, attends educational in-services, and participates in professional activities and organizations to stay current. May conduct educational in-service programs related to respiratory care.

Requirements

• Registered as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) by the state of Georgia.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification in accordance with the American Heart Association.
• ACLS and/or NRP may be required in designated departments.

Responsibilities

• Select, assemble, and check respiratory care equipment for proper function, operation, and cleanliness; perform minor repairs to correct malfunctions.
• Practice universal and/or specialized precautions when cleaning and sterilizing work surfaces, equipment, and instruments.
• Work with a manager to formulate a professional development plan; attend educational in-services and participate in professional activities and organizations to maintain current knowledge.
• May conduct in-service educational programs related to respiratory care.
