Respiratory Care Practitioner - RRT
About The Position
Under the direction and authorization of the medical director and cardiopulmonary director or manager, the Respiratory Care Practitioner II (RCP II) performs respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the ordering provider. The role emphasizes assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation of care while considering the age- and population-specific needs and requirements of each patient. The practitioner may occasionally be assigned or identified as Lead RCP and be responsible for the section or department during their shift. This is a full-time position on 12-hour night shifts, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., in the Respiratory department at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply and are discussed during the interview process.
Requirements
- Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), or obtain it within three months of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain current certification.
- Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the AHA or ARC upon hire and maintain current certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the AHA upon hire and maintain current certification, or obtain it within 60 days of hire.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program certificate upon hire and maintain current certification, or obtain it within 60 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
- Two years of acute care experience preferred.
Responsibilities

- May serve as Lead RCP and assume responsibility for the section or department during the shift.
