About The Position

Performs therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory care procedures and provides assessment, treatment, care and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies or abnormalities. Exercises sound judgment, and developed clinical skills to provide input to and implement the patient's plan of care based on the diagnosis and physician orders in a timely manner. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and/or orient other staff to the department.

Requirements

Graduate of a two-year respiratory care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) (may be evidenced by RCP/RRT/CRT license)
CA Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License Required
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) Certification through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) Required
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Required
ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support required
2 years of recent relevant experience.
Knowledge of respiratory therapy principles, procedures, views, and equipment.
Experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies.
Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Capable of performing routine or emergency respiratory care.
Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
Written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
Well-developed time management and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR), and EPIC.
Ability to work independently, as well as be part of the team.
Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
Ability to identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
Ability to ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
Ability to function effectively and perform this position in an emergency situation.
