About The Position

Performs therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory care procedures, providing assessment, treatment, and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies or abnormalities. Exercises sound judgment and utilizes developed clinical skills to contribute to and implement patient care plans based on diagnoses and physician orders in a timely manner. Builds trust and collaboration with patients, their families/support systems, and healthcare providers through thorough assessment, attentive monitoring, high-quality care, and effective communication. Adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as organizational policies, to ensure patient privacy and safety while delivering optimal care. May also perform specialized procedures and assist with orienting staff to departmental workflows. This role includes direct support of the Sleep department, including PAP education, mask fittings, and close collaboration with sleep clinicians during in-office patient visits. Additionally, the position supports the Pulmonary department through similar patient interactions focused on PAP therapy and other respiratory-related concerns. While currently structured as a limited-term opportunity, this role offers strong potential for long-term or permanent placement for the right candidate, as the department is highly focused on continued growth and expansion.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a two-year respiratory care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) (may be evidenced by RCP/RRT/CRT license)
  • RCP-Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • RRT-Registered Respiratory Therapist OR CRT-Certified Respiratory Therapist
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
  • 2 years of recent relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of respiratory therapy principles, procedures, views, and equipment.
  • Experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Capable of performing routine or emergency respiratory care.
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • Written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR), and EPIC.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as be part of the team.
  • Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
  • Ability to identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
  • Ability to ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
  • Ability to function effectively and perform this position in an emergency situation.
