About The Position
The Respiratory Care Assistant (RCA) at Hoke Hospital is responsible for maintaining adequate supplies, medications, and medical gas tanks within the department. This role involves managing dirty equipment, processing it for reuse, and administering medications via nebulizer. The RCA also participates in other forms of non-invasive patient care but does not engage in critical care or the care of unstable patients. The position is Per Diem Variable and located in Raeford, North Carolina, within the Respiratory Care Services department.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Registration with the NCRCB as an RCA required
- Enrolled student in good standing of an AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program required
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
- Ability to react calmly and maintain composure in stressful situations and when dealing with co-workers, patients, and hospital guests
- BLS - American Heart Association
Responsibilities
- Maintains adequate amounts of supplies needed for the department
- Picks up dirty equipment and then processes them to maintain an adequate supply of clean, ready to use equipment
- Performs testing of Cidex and/or other solutions utilized by the department
- Administers continuous oxygen and continuous bland aerosol therapy per department guidelines
- Does not participate in invasive procedures (Intubations) or critical care (mechanical ventilation)
- Instruct patients in the use and performance of Incentive Spirometry
- Performs CPT per department guidelines
- Charges for all services provided inclusive of use of BCX system
- Performs Arterial punctures
- Other duties as assigned
