About The Position

This position is for a Respiratory Care Assistant at Atrium Health Pineville. The role is part-time and eligible for a sign-on bonus. The Respiratory Care Assistant demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. They interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements and ensure and document that age-specific needs are being met as described in the department policies and procedures. The role also involves providing and assessing the effectiveness of patient and family education, performing respiratory care treatments and oxygen administration, suctioning patients, and obtaining and running ABG samples.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in good standing in an accredited Respiratory Care educational program approved by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and successful completion 1 year of such program required.
• Registered with the applicable state Respiratory Care Board (NCRCB) as an RCA required.
• Completed competency evaluations for each of the duties of the job required.
• BLS required per policy guidelines.
• Additional certifications per facility/policy standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory care treatments and oxygen administration.
• Suctions patients and obtains and runs ABG samples.
• Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status.
• Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements and ensures and documents that age specific needs are being met as described in the department policies and procedures.
• Provides and assesses effectiveness of patient and family education.
