About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Cardio-Pulmonary Director and Cardio-Pulmonary staff, the Respiratory Aide assists in patient care activities, as directed by licensed staff. Provides direct age-appropriate care to patients as directed by collaborating physicians, nursing and other hospital staff in providing Respiratory Care Services.

Requirements

High School diploma / Equivalent Required
Must be enrolled in an Accredited RRT Program
BLS Required
Ability to work independently, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner
Excellent communication and customer service skills

Healthcare experience Preferred

Responsibilities

Performs phases of airway management which includes oral airways, nasal airways, and bag mask ventilation, as directed by licensed staff.
Cleans, disinfects, sterilizes and monitors equipment/facilities, as delegated by licensed staff.
Assembles respiratory equipment, as delegated by licensed staff.
Collects and reviews patient data and non-invasive vitals.
Maintains nasal cannula or face mask for oxygen therapy in the proper position on the patient.
Performs assisted ventilation in emergency resuscitation using a manual resuscitator, as directed by licensed staff.
Helps prepare and stock supplies within the Respiratory Department.
Complies with all established safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
Participates in performance improvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
