About The Position

The Resource Team Leader in Flow Cytometry is responsible for overseeing validation and providing training to staff. This role also contributes to assay development, quality initiatives, and team support to ensure high-quality patient care and compliance with Accreditation Canada Diagnostics (ACD) requirements. The position promotes a positive and collaborative work environment that fosters teamwork, engagement, and high morale.

Requirements

  • Member in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
  • Experience with the BD FACSLyric Analyzer and recent hands‑on experience in assay development and validation required.
  • Minimum 5 years of technical Flow Cytometry experience in a hospital setting.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience, demonstrating strong coaching and mentoring abilities.
  • Solution-oriented approach with solid problem solving, and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well with the team and with internal and external customers
  • Ability to adapt well with varying demands of the job
  • Effective time management & organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and reprioritize with the demands of the job
  • Demonstrated ability to write technical procedures and training material
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork
  • Working knowledge of computers, in particular LIS systems, Word, MS Office, Excel, Visio
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an expected requirement of this position.
  • Must be able to perform all necessary bona fide duties for the position, as outlined in the position guide.
  • Must review and be capable of performing duties as outlined in the Job Demands Analysis for the position as a condition of offer.
  • Proven ability to attend work regularly as per the Attendance Support Policy.

Nice To Haves

  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification- specialist in Cytometry is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide training to staff on the BD FACSLyric Analyzer and other flow cytometry platforms.
  • Lead and support validation activities, offering direction to staff and participating in the validation and implementation of new clinical flow cytometry assays.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of laboratory policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to team members, including physicians, staff, and students.
  • Collaborate with staff to perform gap analyses, implement process improvements aligned with ACD requirements, and support accreditation activities, including liaising with assessors as needed.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative work environment that fosters teamwork, engagement, and high morale.
