About The Position

Provides assistance and support with the implementation of the magnet program and in the development and implementation of related instructional programs. Provides instructional support to teachers and staff, assists with professional development activities, and monitors magnet student engagement. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Five years of successful teaching experience.
  • Two years as a content leader or department chair and experience in the development of curriculum.
  • Possession of a Maryland Educator Professional Certificate appropriate to the area of assignment.
  • OR Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Educator Professional License appropriate to the area of assignment.

  • Official transcripts will be required upon hire and must be sent via e-script/clearinghouse from your university.
  • Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching in a magnet school program preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Possession of a Maryland Educator Advanced Professional Certificate or Advanced Professional License is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to school staff and work with the Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) Magnet Programs coordinator in the planning, developing, and implementing of the magnet program.
  • Collaborates with curriculum offices to support the development and implementation of a unique, integrated, thematic magnet curriculum.
  • Develop and facilitate an advisory/planning committee of key stakeholders, including parents, students, faculty, school administration, theme-related representatives, post-secondary education representative, and other community and partnership representatives.
  • Work with the advisory/planning committee and BCPS Magnet Programs staff to develop promotional materials, plan events, develop business/community partnerships, conduct outreach and recruitment, and monitor enrollment and other relevant data.
  • Monitor magnet student engagement and academic performance; facilitate appropriate intervention services as needed.
  • Assess and monitor faculty and staff professional development needs related to the magnet program; coordinate professional development opportunities as needed.
  • Research and disseminate literature to school-based staff on areas related to the magnet program, theme-based and standards-based curriculum development, technology integration, and innovation instructional approaches.
  • Work with the BCPS Magnet Program staff to coordinate regular meetings with school staff from other magnet programs to participate in a professional support network among school-based staff with similar responsibilities and interests.
  • Assist the BCPS Magnet Programs coordinator in the collection of required data and documentation, and providing feedback to the evaluation of design, instrument development, data collection procedures, preparation of required reports and other relevant issues.
  • Serve as the magnet liaison between the school and the BCPS Magnet Programs.
  • Serve as the magnet program point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate building –level related magnet activities for staff and students (e.g., summer program, speaker series, job shadowing opportunities, field experiences, externships for staff, professional development, and monthly advisory/planning meetings).
  • Assume fiscal planning and maintenance of school magnet program budget.
  • May have part-time teaching responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
