The Resource Specialist is responsible for providing academic and vocational assessments, teaching basic academic subjects to students requiring remedial work, and using special help programs to improve scholastic level. This role involves delivering instruction of core and elective subjects, applying lesson techniques designed for remedial students as required by Florida Sunshine Standards. The specialist will administer measurement tools to assess student progress, utilize classroom management techniques that foster a gender-responsive environment, and administer required standardized State or Pace testing. Additionally, the role includes participating in parent conferences and care review meetings, recommending improvements to academic delivery, supporting care management issues, and providing progress updates for individualized treatment plans. The Resource Specialist will also adhere to budget guidelines, manage resources wisely, and coordinate with school board staff and Pace teams to develop individualized transition and placement plans. This position involves coordinating, supervising, and evaluating tutors, academic interns, and other support services, as well as planning and supervising extracurricular activities. The specialist will conduct all required entry/exit testing, provide tutoring and academic support, assist in proctoring state standardized assessments, and provide classroom coverage and support for teachers and lessons. This includes one-on-one or small group instruction, lesson review, and assisting teachers with administrative tasks. The role also entails registering students for GED assessments, supervising GED administration, monitoring student academic progress, leading FTE reporting, conducting schedules, promotions, and graduation checks, processing new student records, and providing student accommodations.
