Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • One year of experience in the clinical specialty, upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide diverse professional nursing services, delivering quality patient care, regulatory requirements, and nursing scope of practice.
  • Collaboratively develop, implement, and assess patient care plans.
  • Directly engage in patient care, utilizing critical thinking to assess, plan, coordinate, and delegate tasks to the patient care team.
  • Continuously educate patients, families, and staff, implementing interventions for optimal outcomes and managing issues in a physician's absence.
  • Demonstrate accountability for care quality, with authority to direct care and utilize resources efficiently, including comprehensive perioperative care for surgical patients.
  • Adhere to the department’s and hospital’s policies and procedures, including safety, risk management and regulatory standards.
  • Keep abreast of trends, developments and regulatory requirements impacting matters within designated scope of responsibility.
  • Administer, oversee and document the administration of medications (e.g., topically, orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously and intravenously) as ordered by the healthcare practitioner and in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Assess patient to include physical, psychosocial, cultural, behavioral/emotional, developmental and spiritual needs.
  • Gather data relevant for patient care.
  • Implement appropriate patient interventions and evaluate outcomes.
  • Plan care appropriately based on needs identified during initial and on-going assessments.
  • Provide holistic, comprehensive, and professional nursing care to patient within the scope of practice.

  • Receive and assure appropriateness, accuracy, timeliness and execution of physician orders.
  • Identify opportunities for, and participate in, performance/quality improvement activities to improve clinical outcomes, healthcare delivery systems and address patient safety/satisfaction and cost containment.
  • Incorporate critical thinking into daily practice as demonstrated by quality of care provided, transfer of knowledge, follow through and patient outcomes.
  • Lead, coordinate, and communicate the ongoing delivery of patient care services provided by members of assigned patient care teams(s); consider patient acuity and the competencies of care team members in delegating and assigning work and in adjusting assignments as necessary; assess and monitor team performance to ensure the quality of care provided is consistent with the FHS standards and regulatory requirements.
