About The Position

As a Resource Planner II, you will help transform planning, operational, market, customer, and financial data into actionable information that supports strategic decision-making across Colorado Springs Utilities. The position develops and maintains analytical tools, dashboards, reporting platforms, and technical documentation that improve organizational visibility, data accessibility, planning efficiency, and executive decision support. The Energy Resource Planning team plays a critical role in shaping the future of our energy portfolio by evaluating emerging technologies, supporting regional market participation, informing long-term investment decisions, and ensuring reliable and affordable service for our customers.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, planning, forecasting, technical reporting, utility analytics, or related work
  • Experience developing dashboards and business intelligence solutions
  • Experience analyzing large datasets and translating results into actionable recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Resource Management, Engineering, Data Analytics, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Finance, Public Policy, Energy Systems, or a closely related field
  • Utility industry experience
  • Experience with Integrated Resource Planning, load forecasting, demand-side management, market analysis, or energy resource planning
  • Experience with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, SQL, Python, R, Tableau, or similar analytics platforms
  • Experience supporting executive reporting and board communications
  • Experience with technical writing, regulatory filings, and stakeholder communications
  • Knowledge of utility operations, resource adequacy, energy markets, or long-term planning processes
  • Experience developing self-service reporting and enterprise data solutions

Responsibilities

  • Analyze planning, operational, market, customer, and financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Support Integrated Resource Planning, load forecasting, resource adequacy studies, and other strategic planning initiatives
  • Improve access to data by developing standardized datasets, reports, and business intelligence tools
  • Work with stakeholders to identify reporting needs and develop data-driven solutions that improve decision-making
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, data visualizations, and automated reporting processes to support utility planning and business decisions
  • Support data quality, data validation, and documentation efforts to improve confidence in business decisions
  • Prepare and review executive summaries, presentations, technical reports, and other communication materials to convey analytical and study findings
  • Translate complex technical and analytical information into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership and stakeholders
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and professional quality of written planning and analytical products
