About The Position

This full-time, 12-month, grant-funded position is responsible for providing academic and social support to ensure student success (retention and persistence to graduation). The Coordinator serves as a central connector across multiple divisions and departments, focused on early and ongoing intervention for students experiencing barriers to success. A primary focus is a cohort group of 60+ Pell-eligible students pursuing degrees in the “helping professions” (teacher certification, educational studies, nursing, public health, health science) and receiving financial assistance through the Cabrini Grant and Pell.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Demonstrated past experience working with student populations is expected.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
  • Knowledge of university support resources and academic program requirements in order to encourage students to access services and help to address any roadblocks students might encounter.
  • Ability to shift quickly between several tasks without loss of continuity while balancing priorities to accomplish assigned tasks within the required time frame.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and establish collaborative partnerships with a diverse set of colleagues, students, and community stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated self-starter who has the ability to work independently and collaboratively to generate positive change.
  • Excellent technical writing, oral communication, and organizational skills and be able to articulate educational goals, objectives, budgets, evaluation methods, and desired program outcomes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software. (specifically, Word, Excel and Outlook) as well as the ability to stay current with emerging office technologies.
  • Engage in meaningful and intentional professional development appropriate for areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain professionalism when dealing with all staff, students, and other customers while fostering positive working relationships.
  • Ability to incorporate, intentionally and respectfully, topics of inclusion within areas of responsibility, especially as related to student success and retention.
  • Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive and respectful University community.
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential material and maintain integrity and confidentiality of data; knowledge of current regulations regarding student privacy, especially FERPA.
  • Ability to articulate and support the mission and values of St. Bonaventure University; ability to describe the function of the position within the context of the university’s mission.

Nice To Haves

  • experience in a college or university setting highly preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience desired in student leadership, mentorship, advising, or tutoring.
  • Experience gained while enrolled in college is eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Chair of the Cabrini Scholarship Committee to grant initial awards and review/reallocate awards for upcoming years.
  • Encourage faculty and staff across the University to work collaboratively and proactively to assist Cabrini Scholarship and Pell-eligible students.
  • Serve as a student mentor and conduct regular educational meetings and sessions regarding academic courses, academic progress, and personal, financial, career, and social concerns.
  • Create greater student awareness and use of all the services offered to students, including but not limited to academic support, academic advisement, internship and career preparation, and wellness opportunities to ensure student success across their academic, professional, and personal lives.
  • Monitor, track and assess usage of student supports.
  • Assist in completion of interim and final Cabrini Grant reports in collaboration with the Grants Office.
  • Actively involved in University committees and initiatives as needed.
  • Supports the functions of the Student Sucess Center as needed.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.
