About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the blender area and surrounding equipment. The Material Handler will monitor the blending system, ensure correct materials are used according to BOM specifications, and manage material flow to production lines. This position also involves handling material changes, weighing and staging materials, and performing general housekeeping duties. The Material Handler must be dependable, have good attendance, and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to pass written requirements in numeric, visual, verbal comp, space visualization, and work orientation.
  • Ability to work or stand for an 8-hour shift.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when needed.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Work involves continuous bending, reaching, twisting, standing and walking.
  • Must be able to move up to 2000lbs with floor jack.
  • Climb up and down ladders.
  • General math skills.

  • Able to read fractions on a ruler.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain housekeeping in the blender area, keeping it clean and safe.
  • Vacuum material off machines and after purges.
  • Clean oil pans, filters, and magnets on the blending system and dryers.
  • Clean assigned lines for weekly housekeeping inspection.
  • Review schedule for daily activities and verify materials (colors, resin, additives) against BOM specs.
  • Record materials used and startup/shutdown information on activity logs.
  • Monitor blending system for consistent use of regrind and color.
  • Check hopper windows to ensure material does not run out.
  • Communicate with the warehouse to obtain necessary materials for the production schedule.
  • Set up the blending system for color, regrind, and resin, and ensure materials are at the line for startups.
  • Understand LR systems and follow the systems manual for operation and troubleshooting.
  • Verify that each Gaylord or barrel of color or regrind is covered and properly tagged.
  • Weigh and tag all End of Run materials and place them in the End of Run staging area.
  • Notify the Supervisor if contamination is found.
  • Weigh and tag all full Gaylords of regrind and chunks and place them in the staging area.
  • Clean and purge any changeovers using the line clearance procedure.
  • Label all barrels with proper information.
  • Clean and vacuum hoppers, barrels, etc.
  • Break down and stack emptied Gaylords and place cardboard in the compacter.
  • Fill out a maintenance work order request if equipment needs repair.
