About The Position

The Agency of Natural Resources' Climate Action Office is recruiting for an Environmental Analyst V - Resilience Coordinator to support the Agency's work on climate resilience, and adaptation. The Climate Action Office coordinates and provides expertise and capacity on state-led climate initiatives, as well as the monitoring, assessment and tracking of climate adaptation, mitigation, and resilience activities necessary to evaluate progress over time in achieving the requirements of the Global Warming Solutions Act (GWSA) through implementation of the Climate Action Plan, as well as the Resilience Implementation Strategy and other state plans. This position will assist in climate adaptation program development, helping Vermont build resilience in the face of a changing climate. This position will provide technical assistance to a broad range of partners, including state agencies, municipalities, regional planning commissions, nonprofits, and businesses, to help them understand climate change impacts and integrate that knowledge into planning and decision-making. The position will leverage CAO-developed tools such as the Municipal Climate Toolkit and the Municipal Vulnerability Indicators Tool and will be responsible for ensuring these and other resource remain current, accessible, and useful to partners. This position will play a key role in developing a municipal climate planning cohort program, creating actionable frameworks for climate action aligned with Vermont's existing planning requirements. This position will coordinate closely with other State Agencies and Departments, as well as with regional planning commissions, municipal officials, and community partners. The position will also engage with counterparts in other states through relevant regional and national working groups focused on climate adaptation and community resilience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a biological-life or physical science, engineering, a social science, data science, or an environmental or natural resources field AND two (2) or more years of experience in a natural resources field.
  • Master's degree or higher in a biological-life or physical science, engineering, a social science, data science, or an environmental or natural resources field AND one (1) or more years of experience in a natural resources field.
  • Five (5) years or more of experience in an engineering, environmental, social science, data science, or natural resources field.
  • Familiarity with climate adaptation concepts and climate change science.
  • Knowledge of municipal, regional, and state planning processes.
  • Experience with vulnerability assessment methodologies.
  • Strong project management and communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical information into plain language for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with GIS software and spatial data analysis, particularly for mapping climate hazards or vulnerability.
  • Experience working with data tools and maintaining publicly facing resources.
