About The Position

Rite of Passage Team is hiring for a Part-Time/Part-time on call Residential Youth Care Professional at San Pasqual Treatment Center- Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program in Escondido, California. San Pasqual Academy is located on a beautiful 238 acres in rural San Pasqual Valley. SPA is equipped with all the amenities of a private high school, including classrooms, an auditorium, gym, and cafeteria. On grounds sports and activities include basketball, softball, and football. Our unique campus features residential staff and house parents serving as surrogate parents who mentor and tutor students, teach age-appropriate independent living skills, create opportunities to explore new interests, encourage participation in sports and recreation, assist in the exploration of career and job opportunities, and promote family living skills. After 40 years of improving the lives of youth, we are looking for passionate advocates to continue the legacy of helping young people become successful adults. Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test
  • Be able to pass a search of the child abuse central registry
  • Must have prior experience working with Residential care for youth or Youth ages 12-17
  • Lived experience can be supplemented for professional

Responsibilities

  • Provide safety and around-the-clock in person supervision of youth.
  • Provide for the physical, personal and health needs of each student through individual counseling and behavioral/social/physical and educational skill development.
  • Provide an atmosphere that is supportive of the needs of the students.
  • Monitor and document student behaviors and activities.
  • Participate and assist with educational, social, athletic and recreational activities.
  • Work in collaboration with other professional staff to establish and/or meet the goals of each student’s treatment plan.
  • Mentor and tutor students.
  • Teach age-appropriate independent living skills.
  • Create opportunities to explore new interests.
  • Encourage participation in sports and recreation.
  • Assist in the exploration of career and job opportunities.
  • Promote family living skills.
