About The Position

The Residential Tech assists with direct resident care under the supervision of a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) at an Independence Center residential facility at 19 North Newstead. The facility serves 15 residents living in an Independence Center-owned residential facility. This part-time role is scheduled for 8 hours per week, from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. every other Saturday and Sunday.

The role includes passing medications, helping residents work toward treatment-plan goals, following care plans provided by nurses and other providers, preparing meals, and documenting shift care. BJC Behavioral Health provides and coordinates behavioral health services for adults with serious mental illness and children with serious emotional disturbances in several Missouri counties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Less than 2 years of experience listed as the minimum requirement.
• No supervisory experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's degree.
• 2–5 years of experience.
• Certified Nurse Assistant certification.
• Long-term care experience.
• First aid and CPR.
• Certified Medication Technician (CMT), Level One Medication Aide, CNA, or mental health technician skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned patient care activities and assist the nursing team.
• Observe residents for psychiatric stability.
• Assist residents in meeting established treatment-plan goals.
• Coordinate with community support staff and the residential services team.
• Help residents maintain and improve housing skills through meal preparation, laundry, and cleaning.
• Document care provided as outlined by clinical supervisors.
• Pass medications.
• Follow care plans from nurses and providers.
