About The Position

Northern Children's Services is hosting an in-person recruitment event for Residential Support Aides and Outcome Specialists. The organization supports the healthy development of children and youth while stabilizing families to build stronger communities. All opportunities require candidates to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and to complete background checks and other clearances. An online application and Criteria assessment must be completed prior to attending the event.

Requirements

• Fully vaccinated against Covid-19
• Ability to complete background checks and other clearances
• High school diploma or general education development certificate (for Residential Support Aide)
• At least 2 years of experience with children or youth (for Residential Support Aide)
• Familiar with Philadelphia child welfare system (i.e., the Department of Human Services, Community Umbrella Agencies), as well as with and intersecting systems (i.e., the court system, probation, behavioral health)
• Familiar with CDC guidelines for congregate housing, strategies used to help limit the spread of COVID-19
• Master’s degree preferred in social work, child welfare, or other social service field (for Outcome Specialist)
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Service or related work area required (for Outcome Specialist)
• 5 years’ experience in Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice, or related social service field (for Outcome Specialist)
• Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed practice
• Develops a working knowledge of community parenting resources, which may be used in serving clients and maintains close working relationship with these resources.

• Demonstrates accountability for results and keeps commitments to others
• Demonstrates openness and respect for cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients and coworkers.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's degree plus 1 year of experience with children or youth (preferred for Residential Support Aide)
• Bachelor's degree in human services or related field (preferred for Residential Support Aide)
• Certification in medication administration is a plus (for Residential Support Aide)

Responsibilities

• Assure residential services in Northern’s Generations I Program are of the highest quality standards according to City of Philadelphia and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania regulatory and funding source guidelines, as well as state licensing requirements.
• Provide appropriate role modeling in a trauma-informed therapeutic environment that promotes the physical, mental and behavioral health of each resident.
• Assist residents in developing life skills and parenting skills.
• Work as part of a collaborative team, establishing open communications and support among co-workers.
• Provide direct individual and family services to facilitate healing through trauma-informed services and Positive Youth Development.
• Ensure connections to services, programs, activities, and resources that lead to positive short and long-term outcomes for program participants.
• Help pregnant, expecting and parenting adolescent females between the ages of 13-20 stabilize and needing individualized skill development and support to transition successfully into adulthood.
• Ensure all parenting youth served are provided with supportive resources to pursue education to enhance parenting skills and to prepare youth for self-sufficiency upon aging out of care.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and reporting is a fundamental requirement for this position.
