About The Position

LSS Arise Youth Center seeks a passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team and make a significant impact in the lives of teens and their families. This position is ideal for those interested in enhancing their education in the juvenile justice and social services field. The role involves promoting safety, stability, and connection for children and youth in South Dakota.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral or social science field preferred; or two years of postsecondary education (minimum of 60 semester credits) and one year of experience working with children; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have successful completion of Safe Crisis Management training.
  • Willingness to submit to record checks to detect criminal convictions of behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, distributing drugs or sex crimes.
  • Requires valid auto-insurance, a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one with approved driver status.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and support for youth in shelter care.
  • Provide direct client care, maintain/model appropriate boundaries, and teach applicable coping and problem-solving skills.
  • Complete reports and documentation as necessary.
  • Prepare accurate and timely documentation and reports as necessary.
  • Supervise Direct Care staff.
  • Assess client’s needs, and assist them with appropriate services, support, decisions, and plans.
  • Coordinate appropriate resources and community referrals.
  • Provide direction, evaluation, and support to residential staff.
  • Ensure physical intervention for residents and staff protection if necessary.
  • Transport residents as needed and maintain health and safety standards.
  • Attend in-service trainings, staff meetings, and supervisor meetings.
  • Cover on-call duties as assigned.
