About The Position

We have a Full-Time opening for a Residential Specialist at our Rental Assistance Program (RAP) in Jackson County, Oregon. This position works directly with clients and assists them in navigating complex systems (rental applications and requirements, HUD/alternative subsidy applications, benefits systems, public transportation, etc.). Within our RAP team, the Residential Specialist is considered the expert on accessing resources to obtain housing, and is primarily responsible for searching for housing, accessing community resources, coordinating transportation, and assisting with move-in arrangements. They are also involved in fund allocation to ensure all payments are made to landlords in a timely manner. Successful applicants will have the skills to provide effective and professional supports which motivate individuals with serious mental illness to participate in skills training and other treatment activities; help keep individuals safe in the community; and to encourage socialization, self-help, and communication. Services provided will be in accordance with individual community integration and recovery plans. Travel within Jackson County using a company vehicle is required. For applicants starting as a QMHA-R, ColumbiaCare offers a Vocational Training Program to accelerate the training, on-the-job experiential learning, and testing preparation for qualified employees to achieve the 1000 supervised hours required to complete their certification as a QMHA-I. Through this program, this certification can be achieved in as little as 6 months. This is an optional program. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (Full Time, Day)

Requirements

  • Must be QMHA (Qualified Mental Health Associate) certified through Mental Health & Addictions Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO) OR meet eligibility qualifications to register with MHACBO.
  • Eligibility requires 1 out of 3 Criteria below: Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science: Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Human Development, or related field; OR minimum three (3) years of verifiable behavioral health experience working with individuals with behavioral health needs in a supervised setting; OR equivalent combination of behavioral science education in addition to satisfactory supplemental behavioral health experience and training
  • If not already registered as a QMHA through the Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO), we will assist you in registering within the first week of employment.
  • Driving is an essential function of this position.
  • Successful applicants must provide a valid driver's license from their state of residence or obtain and submit one within 30 days of hire, maintain a safe driving record, and have the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.
  • Ability to frequently talk, listen, use hands and fingers, reach, stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, climb stairs, as well as lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally use ladders, squat/kneel, and perform other physical tasks as applicable.
  • Successfully complete crisis de-escalation and CPR trainings, which require performing various physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques and may require an individual to lift and transfer clients.
  • Direct Care staff must be 18 or older at the time of hire.
