About The Position

Mental Health Connecticut (MHC) is seeking a full-time Residential Specialist II for their Long Term Care Program in the Torrington area. This program serves four women with a history of trauma and multiple long-term psychiatric hospitalizations, utilizing the Sanctuary Model. The role involves documenting and delivering services to individuals in recovery, as outlined in their Individual Recovery Plans. The position works Sunday - Thursday from 4:00 pm to 12:00 am.

Requirements

  • GED or High School Diploma required.
  • 2 years of related experience and/or degree in related field, license, certification i.e. Recovery Assistant certificate
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Individuals who have trauma and long-term psychiatric hospitalization histories preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Document all activities, communications, and encounters with individuals in recovery according to service contract and MHC requirements.
  • Ensure the safety of individuals in their residence through proper supervision of assigned program site including being aware of necessary treatment issues.
  • Teach and assist Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Act as a liaison with the individuals' therapists, referral sources, and community agencies.
  • Develop and design content and objectives for educational and wellness-related group discussions and activities. Encourage participation, coordinate schedule, and gather the materials needed for the discussion or activity. Implement and facilitate ongoing group activities and discussions with program participants.
  • Provide community based or program site coverage when necessary. May be mandated to remain on site or to report beyond scheduled hours to provide essential coverage.
