About The Position

The mission of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center is to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach treatment goals and to return to more integrated community living settings. Pinecrest Supports and Services Center specializes in the treatment of people with comorbid intellectual and developmental disabilities and complex medical, behavioral, and psychiatric support needs. Pinecrest Supports & Services Center (PSSC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Services Specialist 6 to perform diverse and technical tasks. The incumbent supervises Residential Services Specialists (RSS) assigned to residential living settings (3-6 homes) in a Program on a 12-hour shift in the direct care of people with developmental disabilities, implementing and directing active treatment plans by providing care, guidance, and training, ensuring that people served are safe, use their environments, and interact with others in the community. Requirements

  • Four years of training or experience in providing behavioral health or developmentally disabled services or psychiatric patient care; OR Forty-eight semester hours in education, psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, child guidance or nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as an assistant to the Residential Services Specialists 7 and 8.
  • Supervises a group of RSSs in all Homes in an assigned Program area on a designated 12-hour shift in carrying out active treatment plans and learning based supports of people residing in the home.
  • Directs subordinates in training and guidance of individuals in routine self-help skills such as personal hygiene, dressing, housekeeping, and other activities providing personal and social growth.
  • Serves on the interdisciplinary team meeting daily to review each person's incidents, accidents, protective support uses, supervision needs, plan revisions, etc.
  • Ensures nutritional, behavioral, and physical support plans developed by the team are implemented as intended by the direct care staff.
  • Ensures individual's records are maintained with current and precise documentation in accordance with all applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines.
  • Assists in interviewing, selecting, and training new employees, scheduling work, evaluating performance and resolving technical problems.
  • Requisitions needed supplies, equipment, and repairs in living areas to ensure that people are safe.
  • Observes homes for cleanliness and supervises subordinates in maintaining proper living environment.
  • Determines if staff is needed to work overtime to make coverage and directs them to do so.
  • Plans activities and trips, ensuring individuals have an opportunity to interact with other community members.
  • Reports and assists in investigations of all instances of suspected abuse or neglect.
  • Assists the RSS 7 and RSS 8 in the daily operations of the Program area and may perform their supervisory duties in their absences.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Administrator to support the Agency and/or the people we serve.
