About The Position

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is seeking motivated and experienced candidates for the role of Residential Services Director. This position works within Northeast Residential Services (NRS), the largest State Operated provider in the Commonwealth, comprised of 70 homes throughout the Northeast Region of DDS. The Residential Services Director is responsible for the overall management of 10 homes within NRS, which provide 24-hour residential supports to 43 individuals.

Requirements

  • At least five (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration, or clinical management.
  • Of the above, at least one (1) year must have been in a project management, supervisory, or managerial capacity.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a COVID-19 vaccination and Influenza vaccination, or have taken required mitigation measures.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment screening including CPPD Abuse Registry Search, CORI, and National Background Checks.

  • A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required (A) experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience.
  • A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required (A) experience.
  • A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for four (4) years of the required (A) experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct oversight to 10 homes; has on-call responsibilities 24/7.
  • Responsible for crisis and emergency management to maintain the health and safety of residents.
  • Provides direct and indirect supervision to approximately 120 DDS employees.
  • Ensures fiscal responsibility by monitoring all assigned budgets (household, overtime, staffing, and furniture/equipment).
  • Ensures homes are clean, safe, and well-maintained, complying with all applicable regulations.
  • Responsible for making hiring recommendations and labor relations reviews.
  • Tracks utilization of overtime, identifies trends, and problem-solves for overtime mitigation.
  • Maximizes monthly revenues through oversight of Federal Reimbursement for Services and the SNAP Program.
  • Ensures all staff are educated in Human Rights and that all Human Rights are respected.
  • Monitors compliance with DPPC and Department Investigations to protect resident rights, dignity, and safety.
  • Maintains compliance with Individualized Service Plans, ensuring all staff maintain required training.
  • Serves as a liaison to families/guardians and the Area and Regional Offices.
  • Responsible for timely incident reporting and tracking, as well as ISP submission through HCSIS.
  • Responsible for reporting and approving time through SSTA.
  • Serves as a hiring manager within Mass Careers.
