About The Position

The Home at Walpole seeks a Residential School Clinician for their Massachusetts Chapter 766 Special Education School. Clifford Academy provides a year-round engaging and comprehensive program focused on education, career development, recreation/fitness, and an individualized therapeutic approach. The Clinician will work directly with students, parents, teachers, school staff and administrators to provide age-appropriate, culturally sensitive mental health services for at-risk students.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, mental health or related discipline; current LICSW/LMHC or LCSW licensure
  • One or more years of clinical experience working with children and families in a school-based setting
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer, with the ability to learn new software applications

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management services; provide clinical assessments and interventions for students and families.
  • Act as an advocate for families, teach parents to advocate for themselves and their children.
  • Assist school staff with coordinating interventions with students; run weekly clinical groups to foster safe and supportive school culture; facilitate restorative justice circle as needed.
  • Provide follow-up and implementation of reintegration plans for students who are returning to school from hospitalizations or suspensions.
  • Utilize treatment modalities that are consistent with program goals and that best fit with students’ age and treatment needs, including play/expressive therapy, group therapy and family therapy.
  • Perform initial assessment and evaluation of new students and families.
  • Identify treatment needs and barriers to growth and development.
  • Design treatment plans that address and specify outcomes.
  • Collaborate with students and family members to develop treatment objectives.
  • Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide quality care.
  • Attend staff meetings, IEP meetings and case conferences; present client material.
  • Consult with supervisor and team members on challenging or difficult student issues.
  • Facilitate communication between various providers.
  • Submit reports and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that documentation meets utilization review and quality assurance standards.
