Overview: Coordinates unit activities, staffing, and supervision of residents in accordance with supervisory direction and unit procedures to ensure quality patient care and unit safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in psychology, social work, counseling or a related human services field; or AA/AS degree with two (2) year of related experience in a patient care setting; or High School Diploma with three (3) years of related experience in a patient care setting.
  • Must obtain and maintain current CPR, First Aid, and CPI certifications.
  • Must possess current, valid driver’s license and maintain Apalachee Designated Auto Driver status.

Nice To Haves

  • Behavioral health service experience working with severe and persistent mentally ill persons preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes scheduling of staff (LPNs and Mental Health Assistants) for residential programs.
  • Maintains availability schedules for all PRN MHA’s.
  • Supervises all Residential PRN Mental Health Assistants.
  • Ensures compliance with training.
  • Arranges for training and continuing education for Residential PRN MHA’s regarding treatment protocols, procedures, standards, etc. to ensure unit staff remains informed of Agency, licensing and community standards.
  • Provides evaluations for each Residential PRN MHA.
  • Maintains competency files for each Residential PRN MHA.
  • Processes PowerTime (time and attendance) for PRN staff.
  • Collects and processes PTO requests for the residential programs.
  • Schedules replacement staff in the absence of regular staff.
  • Schedules staff for new employee unit training.
  • Audits/reviews residential staffing schedules on an ongoing basis to assess compliance and over/under staffing of the units.
  • Maintains/updates schedules on ShiftHound.
  • Coordinates with Temporary Nursing Agencies to fill vacant shifts as approved by Residential Director.
  • Ensures Agency time logs are valid and reconciled.
  • Sends Agency Invoices to Accounting in accordance with required Agency submission schedule.
  • Coordinates with Residential Program Supervisor’s for program or shift specific training needs.
  • Provides training and coaching to new and seasoned Shift Leads and/or MHAs as needed/requested by Residential Program Supervisors.
  • Assists Residential Program Supervisors with LPN and MHA training compliance.
  • Reschedules out-of-compliance staff when necessary.
