About The Position

We are seeking a highly adaptable and self-motivated professional to join our team at the King County Secure Community Transition Facility located in Seattle’s SODO business district. The Secure Community Transition Facility is a structured and closely supervised community residential program where residents continue treatment in a community setting. Our program provides treatment to individuals who are civilly committed, helping them address their history of sexual offenses and prepare for a safe and successful transition back into the community. We are looking for people who are interested in making a positive contribution to the lives of others. As a Residential Rehabilitation Counselor, you will work collaboratively with a team of professionals to implement strategies and interventions that support the needs of our residents. Residential Rehabilitation Counselors are responsible for the daily support and monitoring of residents, escorting/chaperoning services in the community, health engagement opportunities, and fostering a safe and secure environment. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or GED, and one year of experience providing direct care in a residential or in-patient behavioral health setting.
  • College-level coursework will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Equivalent education/experience will also be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of CPR and first responder level first aid.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with staff and residents from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to demonstrate an acute awareness of safety protocols and utilize strong judgment skills to assess environments and situations, making sound decisions within the scope of the job.
  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking and effective communication skills, with the ability to observe and articulate behavioral insights both verbally and in writing, while producing comprehensive, concise, and detail-oriented documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day supervision and monitoring of residents.
  • Create opportunities for social and therapeutic engagement in individual and group settings.
  • Assist and encourage residents in completing essential life skills.
  • Escort residents to and from community outings/appointments.
  • Maintain a safe and secure living environment.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop accurate and detailed written documentation and reports.
