About The Position

The Behavioral Health and Habilitation Administration (BHHA) is seeking an experienced Residential Rehabilitation Counselor Supervisor to join the team at the Pierce County - Secure Community Transition Facility (PC-SCTF) on McNeil Island, WA. SCC employees also receive an additional $10 per day premium pay in addition to advertised salary and a free ORCA card for transportation use. Ferry transportation is provided to McNeil Island employees. Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate. Opportunities performed on site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Requirements

  • Must ride a ferry and bus to and from the worksite
  • Must be able to work mandatory overtime
  • Must be able to pass and perform the physical and knowledge requirements of CPR, first responder level first aid, Control/Defensive Tactics, and Physical Intervention Training, within 90 days of hire
  • Must be able to effectively assist in the restraint of acting out residents
  • May be required to work alone while stationed on a living unit or while monitoring resident activities
  • May be required to work in areas or units other than the location of the principal assignment
  • High school graduation or GED; AND three years of experience providing direct care in a residential or in-patient behavioral health setting OR One years of experience as a supervisor/lead worker and two years of experience providing direct care in a residential or in-patient behavioral health setting
  • Equivalent education/experience

Responsibilities

  • Ensure staff have read, understand, and apply treatment plans for individual residents in the Recreation Center
  • Review staff are documentation on residents, as well as, checking the quality of the documentation
  • Complete employee evaluations
  • Lead in planning, coordinating, and issuing for resident prosocial engagement activities
  • Meet with each staff member on your team and discuss their performance
  • Ensure residents' physical needs are met per SCC policy and procedure
  • Provide information to residents' treatment teams regarding resident appropriateness and rule compliance/lack of compliance while utilizing the Recreation Center
  • Instruct and encourage residents regarding policies, procedures, protocols, within the Recreation Department
  • Assist in coordinating Religious Activities with the Religious Coordinator
  • Interact with residents on a frequent basis and report to the treatment team and through documentation resident interactions/behaviors in the Recreation Center
  • Assist residents with problem-solving individually and in small groups
  • Participate in area community meetings as directed by the Food Program and Support Services Manager and assist with answering resident questions post-meeting
  • Report to the On-Site Supervisor any immediate issues and needs that present risk and work collaboratively to resolve
  • Assist Recreation Center Staff with planning, coordinating, and issuing for resident prosocial engagement activities
  • May act as Admin On-site, SCC Security Lead or Residential Lead during assigned shift
  • Lead SCC Quick Response and Emergency Response Teams as necessary in emergent situations
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures for competency restoration, methods, and techniques of supervision of a trauma-informed therapeutic and forensic mental health treatment programs
