R&D Residential Product Development Engineer Intern

About The Position

Internship is a chance for you to learn about your chosen field in a real work environment with experienced GAF professionals. You’ll be involved in high-profile projects as an integral member of our working teams. During your assignment, you will have a mentor - someone who will act as a coach to help you better understand both our company and your work responsibilities. The Residential R&D New Product Development team works closely with our Residential R&D Asphalt and Glass Mat teams, as well as our Residential Product Management teams in order to design and develop new products . Activities may include creating and testing initial proof of concepts in the laboratory, supporting trials through experimental planning, material testing, and data analysis,, and using these technical learnings to build a business case for capital investment.

Requirements

Minimum 2.8 GPA
At least sophomore standing
Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering
Computer skills in Google, MS Excel, MS Word
Basic knowledge of Solidworks

Responsibilities

Problem solving, project management and communication skills are all necessary as is the ability to operate in a team environment.
Generate accurate and concise technical reports.
Developing and/or engaging with CAD drawings, and applying the fundamentals of statistical data analysis
Working under the guidance of a New Product Development Scientist or Engineer, taking direction and completing tasks in a timely manner
