About The Position

This position takes place in a highly structured 24 hour residential facility program working with at-risk youth clientele. The role involves assisting the population in improving their behaviors and meeting their treatment goals to enable them to step down to a lower level of care. Staff members are expected to be role models and actively engage clients served to meet overall behavior goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Satisfactory results of background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Know and understand each client's treatment needs.
  • Review and contribute to revising treatment plans and implementation.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times per HIPAA standards.
  • Provide therapeutic care and treatment of all clients equally and effectively according to the standards outlined in the Counselor's Orientation manual and agency policies and procedures manual.
  • Assist in maintaining the quality of care standards for the facility, vehicles, and grounds.
  • Assist in maintaining vehicles and updating the vehicle maintenance logs.
  • Develop and adhere to a written daily schedule and post it within the facility for all staff and clients to follow.
  • Provide practical leadership in the milieu based on the principles of containment treatment of special needs and male child/adolescent sexual offenders.
  • Follow all traffic laws when driving with clients or using company vehicles.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and mandatory training.
  • Learn, utilize, and model specific tools/modalities for all clientele: Head Heart Hands, Cycles of Growth and Change, Think It Tools for Living, New Me curriculum, and any subsequent program models implemented by the agency.
  • Participate in quality improvement program.
  • Participate in safety programs agency-wide including completion of fire/disaster drills, notification of potential hazards, etc.
  • Conduct a minimum of one daily group (status, offense specific daily group) that adheres to the program model.
  • Prepare nutritional snacks and meals for clients, while allowing clients to assist as part of life skills training.
  • Assist clients in daily chores, coaching them to perform the chore properly.
  • Assist clients with homework and treatment work during times of study or "brain" time.
  • Actively assist in the planning and implementation of psycho-educational activities.
  • Maintain a direct line of supervision with the clients at all times to prevent underground communication, physical, sexual, or verbal behaviors from happening.
  • Monitor clients during hours of sleep.
  • Assist with family visitation and promote healthy relationships between the client and their caregivers.
  • Display good communication and feedback within a team dynamic.
  • Maintain professionalism in all areas of work, including client and co-worker relationships.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
