We are seeking a skilled and results-driven Residential Electric Operations Manager to take full ownership of our Tampa Residential Electrical department and drive its continued growth and performance. The Residential Electric Operations Manager is the single point of accountability for the Residential Electrical department in Tampa. This role controls all day-to-day aspects of the department — people, performance, scheduling, quality, inventory, and customer outcomes — and is responsible for hitting department revenue and KPI targets. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who wants full ownership of a department and the autonomy to run it, while partnering closely with the Director of Operations on strategy, staffing needs, and budget.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in residential electrical service, with prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred; strong hands-on electrical knowledge required at minimum
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds or less to serve customers if required
  • Working knowledge of Windows computers, essential programs, and performance metrics applications
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead and manage an entire department
  • Experience setting and managing reportable metrics to track department performance and health
  • Must be an excellent communicator, both in written interactions and face-to-face customer and team interactions

Nice To Haves

  • Proven track record leading and taking full ownership of a residential electrical or trade service department
  • Strong working knowledge of residential electrical systems, code compliance, and permitting/inspection processes
  • Ability to read and act on KPI and performance data to drive department results
  • Highly organized, with strong follow-through and the ability to run a department with minimal oversight
  • Strong verbal and written communication, including comfort delivering direct feedback to technicians
  • Sound, quick decision-making under field and customer pressure
  • Ability to build trust, coach performance, and hold a team accountable to standards
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, goal-driven, performance-pay environment
  • Experience with ServiceTitan or a similar field service management platform strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end performance of the Residential Electrical department in Tampa, including all technicians, apprentices, and support staff assigned to it
  • Serve as the final point of escalation for all department-level decisions — scheduling conflicts, customer disputes, technical judgment calls, and day-to-day operational issues
  • Own department revenue, close rate, average ticket, labor efficiency, and callback/rework rate against targets set with the Director of Operations; report performance weekly
  • Build, manage, and adjust technician schedules to meet customer demand, seasonal call volume, and on-call/emergency coverage
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local permitting requirements, and inspection standards across all residential electrical work
  • Partner with HR to identify hiring needs, screen and interview candidates, and recommend hires, promotions, and terminations for department staff; HR executes final onboarding, offer, and separation paperwork
  • Lead onboarding and technical ramp-up for new electricians, pairing them with senior techs and tracking progress to full productivity
  • Conduct monthly ride-alongs and 1:1 coaching sessions with every technician to reinforce skill development, sales technique, and customer experience standards
  • Ensure incentive and performance pay plans within the department are applied fairly, accurately documented, and consistent with Hawkins' pay plan structure
  • Review and approve technician timecards, invoices, options sheets, and curbside customer feedback for accuracy and quality
  • Own warehouse and truck inventory for the electrical department — stocking levels, restock cadence, and loss prevention
  • Manage relationships and contracts with external vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers that support electrical operations
  • Maintain and continuously improve department SOPs, ensuring documentation stays current with process, code, and technology changes
  • Use ServiceTitan to its fullest potential for dispatch, job costing, reporting, and performance tracking
  • Act as a technical resource and field backup for complex or high-value electrical jobs when needed
  • Champion Hawkins' culture and customer experience standards, setting the tone for the department every day
  • Provide the Director of Operations with regular reporting on department health, staffing needs, and budget-relevant performance data
