Residential Electrical Instructor

In Charge Electric•Temple, TX
•Onsite

About The Position

In Charge Electrical Services is a fast-growing residential electrical subcontractor headquartered in Austin, Texas. We have 18 locations across Texas, Florida, Arizona, and South Carolina and roughly 600 employees, and we keep growing, both by opening new markets and through acquisitions. For you, that means more crews, more leadership roles, and more room to move up as your skills grow. The Electrical Instructor trains the next generation of In Charge electricians where it counts: in the field. You will lead a training crew of 2 to 6 apprentices and work alongside them every day, wiring real houses through rough and trim. Your job is to show them how to wire a house the right way: to code, with close attention to detail, and at production speed. This role is built for a skilled residential electrician who enjoys mentoring and takes pride in developing new electricians, and who still wants to be on a job site with tools in hand every day.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of experience as a practicing residential Electrician, with strong hands-on skill in rough and trim installation.
  • Able to wire a house quickly and cleanly in a production environment, and to teach others to do the same.
  • Supervisory-level or above field experience, including experience leading crews.
  • Experience training or mentoring apprentices or field teams, and a real interest in developing new electricians.
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and job-site safety practices.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Valid Wireman, Journeyman or Master Electrician license.
  • Clear communicator, able to explain technical work to people at different experience levels.
  • Organized, with working proficiency in Microsoft Office and training management systems.
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment screening, including background and motor vehicle record checks.
  • Dependable transportation and reliable, consistent attendance.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a training crew of 2 to 6 apprentices, in the field with them every day.
  • Train hands-on through rough and trim installations on active job sites: demonstrate the work, then coach apprentices as they do it.
  • Teach apprentices to wire houses efficiently, building the methods, sequencing, and habits that produce speed without giving up quality.
  • Hold a high standard for detail. Check apprentices’ work, correct mistakes on the spot, and make sure every house is wired to plan and to code.
  • Teach and reinforce NEC requirements and job-site safety, including NFPA 70E, as part of the daily work.
  • Mentor each apprentice. Track progress, assess skills and code knowledge, keep training records, and hold regular one-on-ones to address gaps early.
  • Report apprentice progress and program results to training leadership, and work with leadership and field supervisors to keep improving the program.
