Gainesville Regional Utilities is seeking a customer-focused and sustainability-minded professional to join our Energy and Business Services team as a temporary Residential Efficiency Program Coordinator I. Energy and Business Services plays a vital role in helping customers balance energy efficiency, affordability, comfort, and lifestyle. Our team is committed to serving the community and supporting its continued well-being. This position performs residential energy surveys and provides customers with practical, cost-effective recommendations for improving energy efficiency. The Coordinator will inspect building envelopes, windows, doors, attic insulation, ventilation and ductwork, and heating and cooling systems. The position also evaluates energy-use patterns, completes computerized analyses, explains conservation opportunities, and helps customers understand available efficiency programs and improvements. The ideal candidate is an effective verbal and written communicator who can translate technical information into clear, useful guidance. Success in this role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to organize and accurately document findings. Candidates should be adaptable and comfortable working in a variety of residential environments while engaging respectfully and empathetically with customers from diverse backgrounds and circumstances. A genuine interest in sustainability, energy conservation, and community service is essential. The successful candidate will be able to build trust, influence positive changes in energy-use habits, and provide recommendations that consider each customerβs individual needs, comfort, and financial circumstances. Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under general supervision.
