About The Position

Requirements

  • Adequate reading and writing (English) skills to perform job duties.
  • Interest and desire to work with adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier.
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks associated with the position (including lifting and care of individuals as required by responsibilities listed above).
  • Familiarity with geographic area.
  • General knowledge of vehicle upkeep.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR, and SCIP-R Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • One-year prior experience driving large vehicles preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive agency vehicles transporting individuals and staff to and from recreational and non-recreational activities as assigned.
  • Receive and respond to ride requests, handling scheduling and communication with residential managers and supervisors.
  • Assist in loading and unloading of individuals using adaptive equipment and vehicle safety equipment.
  • Accompany individuals to other community activities/facilities as assigned, ensuring safe transportation and appropriate supervision.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safe services.
  • Maintain vehicles in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Implement service plans and accurately complete tracking and recording of outcomes.
  • Communicate daily occurrences related to the job or individuals to appropriate persons (Supervisor, Nursing staff, Residential Supervisor/Manager, etc.) and document events, incidents, and accidents as they occur, per policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
