About The Position

This role involves driving a vehicle for consumers, ensuring its mechanical soundness, and maintaining a daily log of mileage and expenses. The position requires adherence to speed limits, prohibition of personal vehicle use, and respectful treatment of consumers. In downtime from driving, the employee is expected to assist the program, provide care in a safe and comfortable environment, and comply with medical records requirements. The role also includes submitting required documentation accurately and timely, providing care based on ethical principles, performing checks on new residents, and maintaining consumer confidentiality. Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of client files, providing services within time requirements, and adhering to client treatment plans are also key responsibilities. The employee must refrain from unrelated duties and respond to emergencies promptly. Demonstrating the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and independently is essential. Recovery services staff may be required to perform drug screenings on clients. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

  • High School/GED diploma
  • Submit to and pass a background check
  • Submit to and pass a drug screening test
  • At least 25 years of age
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Central Abuse/Neglect Registry Check required

  • Ability to exercise good judgment, tact, diplomacy and compassion when problem solving, handling conflict or in a crisis situation.
  • Ability to complete record keeping in a timely fashion

  • Ability to work well with people of all races, backgrounds and needs.
  • Knowledgeable of health promotion and disease prevention and differential diagnosis and disease management as appropriate to educational level.
  • Knowledgeable of Behavioral Health Concepts and how to deal with aggressive or violent behavior.
  • Physically able to reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, stand, walk and lift up to 100 pounds
  • Maintain a safe driving record
  • Maintain the required minimum vehicle insurance amount for the State of Kentucky, if required for job performance.
  • All new staff must attend training regarding handling physical, verbal threats, acts of violence or other escalating and potential dangerous situations including when police need to be summoned.
  • All new staff must attend training regarding medication and self-administration policies and successfully pass a post test.
  • All staff must be certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation within one month of employment and maintain the certification.
  • First Aid Training may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • If there is down time from driving, it will be expected that the driver will provide assistance to the program.

Responsibilities

  • Check the vehicle daily for mechanical problems.
  • Complete monthly, six-month, and annual checklists accurately and timely.
  • Keep a daily log of miles driven and gas purchases.
  • Use best judgment on whether mechanical problems should be fixed immediately or can wait.
  • Report expensive repairs, unless they pose a danger, to the Transportation Coordinator or Team Leader/Program Director prior to repair.
  • Change the oil and oil filter on a scheduled basis.
  • Keep the vehicle clean inside and outside.
  • Never exceed the speed limit.
  • Never use the vehicle for personal use.
  • Treat consumers with respect and consideration.
  • Pick up consumers at the scheduled time.
  • Provide assistance to the program during downtime from driving.
  • Provide care in a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Comply with medical records requirements.
  • Submit required documentation within required time frames per agency policies and procedures.
  • Provide care based on ethical concepts and principles while refraining from forming a personal relationship with the consumers.
  • Perform checks on all new residents as dictated per agency policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times regarding the consumers.
  • Ensure the accuracy, content, and completeness of client files.
  • Provide services within the time requirement as set forth in Agency policy and procedures.
  • Provide services as documented in the client treatment plan.
  • Refrain from assuming any duty that is unrelated to and/or interferes with the responsibilities of the position.
  • Respond to emergency situations in a timely fashion.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with other team members, as part of a multidisciplinary team, and independently, when necessary.
  • Perform drug screenings on clients as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned when necessary.
