About The Position

Supportive Living Services, Inc. (SLS) provides residential services to individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism throughout Erie County. Residential Direct Support Professionals work directly with individuals in their homes and communities, assisting with everyday activities while promoting independence, dignity, choice, and self-determination. No prior experience is required; paid training and orientation are provided. The starting pay is $18.00 per hour.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Acceptable motor vehicle history.
• Meet applicable criminal background clearance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, respectful relationships with individuals through meaningful communication and interaction.
• Assist individuals with daily living skills, personal care, and activities that promote independence and improve quality of life.
• Support individuals in achieving personal goals and participating in community activities.
• Administer and document medications according to agency policies and applicable regulations after required training.
• Prepare meals and assist individuals with meal preparation based on their needs and preferences.
• Assist with the general upkeep and maintenance of individuals’ homes and living environments.
• Provide transportation to appointments, community outings, and other activities using agency vehicles and established procedures.
• Conduct fire drills and follow agency safety and emergency preparedness procedures.
• Follow agency policies for handling and documenting individual and household funds.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate important information to appropriate team members.
